AVID—Advancement Via Individual Determination—fosters a safe, open culture, high expectations for teachers and students, and collaboration in all classrooms. AVID’s mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society. Journey has been implementing AVID since 2009, and has been an AVID Demonstration School since 2013. We continually work to be responsive and knowledgeable educators in order to meet the needs of all of our students.
How To Apply
The application process for students who want to join the AVID Elective for the 2026-27 school year.
For Current 5th grade students, applications were due April 28, 2026. Interviews will be held in May at your elementary school. Students and families will be notified through email before the end of the school year.
