Time management starts with understanding how we use our time. The sample below is from an AVID student who was asked as part of a time management unit to record how she spends her time for a week. A blank version of this form can be found in page 36 of Organizing The AVID Student Binder. Next the student needed to reflect on how she spends her time, what her priorities are and what an ideal day would look like. Lastly students worked to create time management tools to share with peers who are not in the AVID elective.

AuthorAmanda Vogel has been teaching since 2007. With a background in special education and literacy instruction, I have been teaching in AVID schools for my entire career. I have seen first hand the powerful impact that AVID can have both on student in the elective class but also in supporting school wide improvements that works for all students. I am by no means an expert, but I hope that by sharing the experiences at our school we can build a community together. Archives
